My interest in art started at a young age, when I stole the camera my Mom had bought off Craigslist to photograph homes she was selling. I subsequently forced many of my very reluctant friends to pose for me in all types of ridiculous photoshoots. Though I'm curious, a part of me is grateful that I was unable to find those photos to share with you.

HELLO! LET ME INTRODUCE MYSELF…

In high school I was gifted a Minolta by my grandmother, and spent every moment I could developing in the darkroom. It really was my favorite place in the world.

As it came time to apply to colleges, I found myself lacking the excitement of my peers. I decided instead to take a gap year, which I credit as the decision that led me to where I am today.

I spent the first half of the year living in New York City and studying Digital Photography at the New York Film Academy, and the second half traveling the world with Semester at Sea.

I traveled Southeast Asia and Africa by sea for four months, and took thousands of photographs. I was so enamored by everything I was seeing that I soon found myself needing more than just still photographs. And so I started filming. I had no idea what I was doing, and the video I edited upon returning home was truly horrendous, but from that point on I could not stop. Every time I went on a trip or to an event, I filmed it and cut a short video. I once created a music video starring my albino hedgehog, but I'm taking that video to the grave.

When I started college in Boston the following year, studying Film seemed like an obvious choice. I paired it with a Biology degree in hopes of working on content supporting wildlife conservation. And when I landed an Assistant Editor gig at National Geographic, it took a long time to really sink in.

When I made the decision to leave and start my freelance career in 2021, I felt prepared, grateful, and eager. And let's be honest...anxious. But with the encouragement of my closest friends, family, and colleagues, I made the jump. And it has been a wild ride. I have made so many new friends in the industry, worked on a wide variety of projects, and even edited remotely from South America and Europe.

And in the wake of that journey, Now You See It was born. The name, an homage to what drew me to photo and video in the first place: the unparalleled ability to share what I find most beautiful and important in the world. From stills of far away places to spots advocating for social change, I’m all about making a lasting impact. I’m eager to find out what’s to come, and I hope you’ll be the next stop in my story.

I believe in the power of communication through art.
